19-year-old woman dead, two others injured in 3 early morning shootings in Utica, police say

Utica, N.Y. — A 19-year-old woman is dead and two others are injured after three early morning shootings in Utica on Friday, police said.
The first shooting was reported at 12:30 a.m. at a store at 822 South St, said Lt. Michael Curley, a spokesperson for the police department.
A person wearing a mask entered the store and shot a man in the stomach, Curley said.
The man was taken to Wynn Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and is in critical but stable condition, he said.
While police were investigating the shooting on South Street a ShotSpotter notification alerted them to shots fired on Faxton Street. As officers were on the way, multiple 911 calls reported people shot.
A man was found at the scene with gunshot wounds to his back and a woman had multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Both were taken to Wynn Hospital.
The woman, who was 19, died at the hospital, he said.
The man found on Faxton Street is in stable condition, he said.
At 3:30 a.m., police were still investigating the shooting on Faxton Street when they received another ShotSpotter alert that shots had been fired on the 1500 block of Howard Avenue.
Multiple gunshots were fired at a home on Howard Avenue while residents inside were sleeping. Children were in the home at the time, he said. No one was injured in the shooting.
Police are working to determine if the shootings are connected, he said.
The shooting on South Street was about two miles from Faxton Street.
Faxton Street is only a mile from the 1500 block of Howard Street.
Police ask anyone with information about the shootings to call them at (315) 223-3510.
